First Grade Visits Doak House

The first grade classes of DES enjoyed a trip to the Tusculum College Doak House Museum.  They participated in The Gingerbreak Storytelling Program.  This program focused on how the Doaks lived, worked, and played as well as activities they did for school.  This showed them how families lived in the early 1900s and the students enjoyed a hands on approach to kitchen life, life in the classroom as well as storytelling from ole.  They were able to make a shadow puppet and enjoyed watching a shadow show.  Students really enjoyed this trip and learned  about the 1900s in a fun way!!
