Adventures in Reading 2016

Our summer reading program was a hugh success this year!  Each Tuesday in the month of June students and teachers met at school for a couple of hours to enjoy reading together!  K-2 students enjoyed Fairy Tales with a twist, 3-5 students had a choice of Magic Tree House adventures that focused on India or on of the Survived books that focused on surviving the hurricane Katrina.

Students were visited by WVLT meteorologist Heather Haley.  She spoke with students about weather and the importance of reading.  Thank you to Mr. Mulligan for inviting her to our school.

All students were able read together, make crafts, choose books to take home each day and a snack as well.  A huge thank you to all the teachers who came and worked hard to make this a lot of fun for the students.  Thank you to Mr. Arnold and Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. Price for making sure everything was ready each time.  DES would especially like to thank First Baptist Church of Dandridge for the snacks each day.  Students really enjoyed all the activities and were so well behaved!
