Fire House Visits

The Dandridge Volunteer Fire Department and the Fire House from Knoxville visited Dandridge Elementary for a couple of days.  Students were allowed to go into the fire house and visit each room.  In the living room, they discussed things that were dangerous to touch and how to get out of the room by learning a rhyme "get low and go".  Next, they went to the kitchen and discussed that this room was not a place to play and only use adult supervision when cooking in the kitchen.  Finally, they went upstairs to the bedroom where they were told to make a plan and have a place to meet outside. Then they had to exit the house through a window and down a ladder.  This was a true real life experience that gave them an idea of what to do in case of a fire.  The firefighters also gave information about what they looked like when entering a fire and the equipment on the trucks.  Students loved the huge ladder that firefighters had up.  Thank you to all our firefighters and first responders for your service!
