Work for next week!

We have started our unit in reading on light and how it works and all they different types of lights there are in the world. We will learn new words as we listen to interesting stories about this topic. We continue to work on our sounds and how to read. I want to start a big push on sight words. I will test your child next week on how many of the sight words they know to this point. We should know 200 words by the end of first grade. We will be playing games with these words as we learn them. We continue to work on our writing. Many of us are just now learning how to write words, so this is a slow process for first graders. We will write daily and improve as we go. We will begin adding doubles and doubles plus one next week in math. We continue writing, reading and counting numbers.

Class Supplies

Thank you to everyone who sent in tissues, glue and Clorox wipes! It is greatly appreciated.

Parent Teacher Conferneces

I will be available for parent teacher conference on Tuesday February 12, from 4-6. I will send a sign up sheet home next week in homework folders.   Midterms come home today.   If you think you need a conference or just need some advice on how to help your child, please sign up for a conference.

Snacks

We could use some snacks. We have plenty of popcorn, but are in real need of cereal, pretzels, cheese nips, crackers etc. Thanks for always helping with these.
